NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Nashville Police have identified the teenager who was shot with his own firearm on Antioch Pike over the weekend.
Authorities revealed on Tuesday that the victim was 16-year-old Jawaun Cleo Jones. According to reports, Jones was shot with his own gun in the 1600 block of Antioch Pike following a confrontation with three individuals.
Upon analysing footage from nearby surveillance cameras, investigators concluded that Jones was riding a skateboard around 11 p.m. when he was approached by the trio. A scuffle ensued between Jones and the suspects, leading to the victim dropping his pistol. One of the individuals then picked up the weapon and fired at Jones.
The victim attempted to flee but collapsed in front of a local business. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The three suspects fled on foot following the incident.
