BUCKEYE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) – Law enforcement officials in Arizona have made a significant breakthrough in the case of 46-year-old Hope Tucker, who had been missing since May.
On Monday, authorities confirmed the discovery of Tucker’s remains, along with those of her loyal dog, less than two miles north of Interstate 10.
The missing mother and her autistic son were travelling on I-10 in the early hours of Wednesday, May 22, when their vehicle experienced mechanical issues between Verrado Way and Watson Road.
It is believed that Tucker and her son abandoned the car in search of shade, but the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear.

The young boy, who has limited communication abilities, was found in distress at a gas station on Watson Road on May 24.
After spending nearly a month in the hospital, he was eventually placed under the care of a family member last week.
Although the boy did not mention his mother during his hospitalisation, he later disclosed the events to his relatives, prompting them to contact the Phoenix police.
Search efforts for Tucker had been ongoing since Saturday, June 22, with authorities leaving no stone unturned in their quest to locate her.
