The driver who tragically lost his life in a collision near Cedar Point on Monday has been named as Dewayne Chandler, a 56-year-old resident of DePue.
The La Salle County Coroner’s Office released a statement on Tuesday providing an update on the incident, which involved two vehicles and occurred on Route 71 in Eden Township, to the east of Cedar Point.
An initial forensic autopsy has been carried out, with preliminary findings suggesting that Chandler succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being investigated by the La Salle County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
