Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 31-year-old man has been taken into custody following a disturbing incident at a Daytona Beach resort, where he allegedly dropped a 4-year-old child from the second floor. Brandon Gilmore, the man involved, is now facing a serious felony charge of aggravated child abuse, as reported in an affidavit from the local police department.

According to official records from the Daytona Beach Police Department, Gilmore had only met the child’s mother a few hours before the incident took place, which occurred just before 8pm. The man reportedly informed the mother that he was going to take the child outside to play and “scare him a little bit.” However, witnesses claim that Gilmore proceeded to hold the child upside down by his legs over the balcony, before ultimately dropping the toddler head-first from the second floor.
Dasanni Bentley, a witness to the distressing event, described how Gilmore was initially playing and swinging with the child before letting him slip and fall directly onto the concrete below. Bentley mentioned that the child suffered a significant impact and appeared to struggle for oxygen after the fall.
Officers investigating the incident were able to obtain video surveillance footage that captured the entire ordeal. The footage reportedly shows Gilmore exiting a hotel room carrying the child normally, before holding him over the balcony by one leg and eventually dropping him head first. Bentley recounted how Gilmore and the child’s mother quickly ran downstairs following the incident, with onlookers trying to assist and ensure the child’s well-being.
The child was promptly rushed to the hospital under a trauma alert due to the severity of the fall, and was diagnosed with blunt force trauma to the head. Although the current condition of the child has not been disclosed, the Department of Children and Families has been informed of the incident.
