Circle Inspector Premchand shed some light on the situation, stating that Yatendra had a pre-existing heart condition, with a hole in his heart since childhood. The family, devastated by the sudden loss, opted against conducting a post-mortem examination. The doctors confirmed that the cause of death was indeed heart failure, based on Yatendra’s medical history.

Yatendra’s father, Bhupendra Upadhyay, expressed his grief, mentioning that his son had celebrated his 16th birthday just the day before. The family had joyously marked the occasion with sweets, cake, and photographs, only to be struck by tragedy the very next day.

Heart failure is a serious medical condition that occurs when the heart’s ability to pump blood is compromised, leading to inadequate oxygen and nutrient supply to the body’s tissues. Factors such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, and previous heart attacks can contribute to this condition. In some cases, congenital heart disease, present since birth, can also result in heart failure in children and teenagers.

Congenital heart disease, including conditions like ventricular septal defect (VSD), impacts the heart’s structure and blood flow. A hole in the heart wall, such as VSD, allows oxygen-rich blood to flow back into the lungs instead of being distributed throughout the body. This abnormal blood flow puts additional strain on the heart, potentially leading to severe complications if left untreated.

Symptoms of VSD vary based on the size of the hole and the presence of other heart issues. Children with VSD may experience poor feeding, slow growth, rapid breathing, fatigue, and abnormal heart sounds. In adults, symptoms like shortness of breath, especially during physical activity, and abnormal heart sounds may indicate the presence of VSD.

It is crucial to raise awareness about congenital heart conditions and the potential risks they pose, especially in young individuals like Yatendra. By understanding the symptoms and seeking timely medical intervention, lives can be saved and tragedies like this can be prevented.
