A tragic incident unfolded in Hanover, New Hampshire, as a Dartmouth student, 20-year-old Won Jang, was reported missing on Sunday afternoon and later found dead in the Connecticut River. The Hanover Police Department received a report that Jang had been missing since 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon receiving the report, the Hanover police and fire departments immediately sprang into action and headed to the last known location of Jang at 8 Boathouse Road, near the docks on the Connecticut River. Witness statements helped narrow down the search area.

Search and rescue efforts were launched with the assistance of the Hanover Fire Department Dive Team, along with support from the Lebanon and Harford fire departments. Additional help came from NH Fish & Game and NH Marine Patrol, who joined the operation to locate Jang.

Fish & Game took the lead in the search operation and, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, the authorities made a grim discovery. A body was found around 65 feet offshore, and it was confirmed to be that of Won Jang.

Jang’s family has been notified of the tragic incident. The Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene, though the cause of death remained undetermined as of Sunday night. Initial investigations suggest that foul play is not suspected in Jang’s untimely demise.
