Authorities in Hanover are currently conducting an investigation into an anonymous report of hazing in relation to the tragic death of a Dartmouth College student. The body of 20-year-old Won Jang, hailing from Delaware, was discovered on Sunday night in the Connecticut River.

Jang was last spotted on Saturday evening near the boat docks on the Connecticut River. College officials have disclosed that he was present at the river for what they described as a social gathering. Concerns arose when Jang failed to attend a scheduled appointment on Sunday, prompting a search to be initiated.

Various items found near the dock suggested that Jang had not left the area, prompting an extensive search involving divers, a drone, and an underwater camera. The underwater camera ultimately led to the discovery of Jang’s body on Sunday evening, not far from the dock, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Police Investigation and Suspicions

While the cause of Jang’s death remains undetermined at this time, authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected. Hanover Police Chief Charles Dennis revealed that there are indications of alcohol involvement based on witness accounts. Additionally, an anonymous email received through the college has raised concerns of possible hazing, which is also being looked into as part of the investigation.
