ARAB, Ala. (WAFF/Gray News) – A 2-year-old girl named Violet Satterfield is currently fighting for her life after she was discovered in a pool last week. The incident has left her family and the community in shock.

Violet’s mother, Rebekah Satterfield, has been providing updates on her daughter’s condition through social media. In a recent Facebook post, she expressed gratitude for the prayers and support they have received during this difficult time. She shared that Violet has undergone brain death exams, which unfortunately did not yield positive results. The family is preparing to say their goodbyes as they face the heartbreaking reality of the situation.

The tragic event occurred on July 1 when the Arab Fire Department responded to a call about a possible drowning at a residence. Violet was quickly transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to Birmingham, Alabama for specialized treatment.

According to Satterfield, Violet managed to sneak outside without any floatation devices and gain access to the pool on her own. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of constant supervision when children are near water.

A GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $28,000 to assist Violet and her family with medical expenses and support during this challenging time.

In response to recent incidents involving children and water, authorities have advised parents to take extra precautions. Arab Police Chief Shane Washburn emphasised the importance of having safety measures in place, such as fences and pool sensors, to prevent similar accidents in the future.
