PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio (WOIO) – Authorities in Put-in-Bay reported that a dramatic car chase concluded with the arrest of one individual and the hospitalization of another in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were alerted to a disturbance at the Put-in-Bay School at approximately 1:30 a.m. following reports of a man assaulting a woman in the vicinity.

Upon arrival, law enforcement witnessed the suspect entering a vehicle parked at the school and swiftly driving away.

The individual proceeded to drive at excessive speeds, heading north on Catawba Avenue where responding officers were situated.

During the pursuit on Catawba Avenue, Bayview Avenue, and Hartford Avenue, the suspect drove in the wrong direction down Delaware Avenue, colliding with a golf cart and causing injury to a passenger.

Continuing on Catawba Avenue towards the South Bass Island State Park, the suspect navigated through the park and onto Niagara Avenue.

Eventually, the suspect halted the vehicle, prompting Put-in-Bay officers to carry out a high-risk vehicle stop.

A 39-year-old man was apprehended by the officers, who discovered that he did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Emergency services airlifted a 29-year-old woman from Lebanon, Ohio, to the hospital via Life Flight due to what appeared to be minor injuries that could not be treated by EMS.
