The criminal complaint lodged against Kibler outlines how a young woman was transported from the Wausau area to La Crosse and exploited for sex trafficking in the region. The victim disclosed to law enforcement that she had incurred a drug-related debt to an individual known as Drae Broadnax, who then brought her to La Crosse in June to engage in sex trafficking until the debt was repaid.

According to the victim, while in the company of Broadnax, she was subjected to numerous threats, including instances where he brandished a firearm at her approximately 20 times. The victim expressed genuine fear for her life, believing that Broadnax would carry out his threats if she cooperated with the authorities.

Upon arriving at a residence on Charles St. in La Crosse, the victim was introduced to Shantylle Kibler, who was identified as the girlfriend of Broadnax. Subsequent investigations revealed that Kibler facilitated four meetings between the victim and men who paid for sexual services. Kibler also provided transportation for the victim to the designated meeting locations.

Video evidence obtained by the authorities corroborated the victim’s account of Kibler’s involvement, showing Kibler’s vehicle stopping at one of the meeting locations. The footage captured the victim disembarking from the vehicle and entering an apartment building for one of the encounters.

After each meeting, the victim handed over all earnings to Kibler, under the belief that Kibler subsequently transferred the funds to Broadnax. However, on June 23, the victim managed to acquire a phone and contact her fiancé in Wausau, who, in turn, informed the victim’s mother, prompting her to alert the police.

Following an interview with the victim, Kibler was apprehended by investigators on July 1. At a subsequent court appearance last Wednesday, Kibler was remanded in custody on a $500,000 cash bond. The presiding Judge Ramona Gonzalez upheld the bond during Monday’s hearing, with Kibler scheduled to reappear in court next week.

The criminal complaint indicates that law enforcement authorities are actively seeking Drae Broadnax in connection with the case.
