Sandhya Chudal : “Girl Trafficking Arrest: Woman Accused”

BIRATNAGAR, July 8: A shocking incident has come to light in Biratnagar as police have arrested a woman on charges of luring young girls into the sex trade under the guise of job opportunities. The arrested individual has been identified as Sandhya Chudal, a 24-year-old resident of Garamani, Birtamod Municipality-8, Jhapa. Chudal had taken a flat on rent in Gudri Bazar, Biratnagar, with the intention of operating a sex trade network that exploited young women.

Authorities have rescued six women, aged between 21 to 23 years, from the rented flat in Gudri Bazar, Biratnagar-11. Among the rescued women, one each hailed from Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Syangja, and Udayapur, while two were from Jhapa. According to Nawaraj Karki, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Morang, the women were promised job opportunities but were instead forced into the sex trade.

Investigations revealed that Chudal and her accomplices were running an illicit sex trade operation, sending women to hotels and other specified locations as per the requests of clients. The rescued women bore physical signs of violence, indicating that they were subjected to torture if they refused to comply with the demands of the racketeers.

Chudal was working in conjunction with Raj Kumar Shah, approximately 30 years old, who had also rented the flat in Gudri Bazar, Biratnagar. While Chudal has been apprehended, Shah is currently on the run, prompting a search operation by the police to locate him and bring him to justice.
