CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The tragic incident that took the life of a Fort Campbell soldier has been identified by the Clarksville Police Department. The soldier, 30-year-old Nicholas Smith, was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash on Ted Crozier Sr. Boulevard at Weatherly Drive on July 7.

Authorities reported that the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. and led to the closure of Ted Crozier Sr. Blvd. as investigators processed the scene. Smith was rushed to Tennova Healthcare for medical treatment, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Smith, an active-duty soldier serving at Ft. Campbell, leaves behind a grieving community and loved ones. The Clarksville Police Department is urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward and contact FACT Investigator Gadberry at (931) 648-0656, ext. 5221.
