In a heartbreaking turn of events on Sunday, an eight-year-old child lost his life after drowning in Korang Nullah in the Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad. The incident occurred when three children were playing near the nullah and were unexpectedly caught in a sudden flood at around 11am.
Although two of the children were fortunate enough to be rescued by a passerby, tragically, the young boy identified as Mohammad Faizan, aged 8, was unable to be saved and drowned in the turbulent waters. Despite the valiant efforts of the rescue team, which included navy divers, the young boy’s body could not be located.
A spokesperson for the police expressed the grim reality of the situation, stating that the chances of the boy’s survival were extremely slim. “Regrettably, we are now focusing our efforts on locating his deceased body, as several hours have passed since the incident, and he remains missing,” the police official mentioned.
This devastating incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by natural water bodies, especially during times of flooding. It is crucial for parents and caregivers to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of children when near waterways, particularly during unpredictable weather conditions.
