The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning when reports emerged that a man had discharged a firearm while under the influence of alcohol on his way back from a local nightclub.

Authorities were swiftly dispatched to the scene at the 5600 block of Saint David St., where they discovered the man holed up in an apartment with a 7-year-old child.

The individual in question has been identified as 28-year-old Miguel Delgado-Samaniego.

Given the potentially dangerous situation, SWAT teams and hostage negotiators were summoned to the location, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents for their safety.

Following several tense hours of negotiation, SWAT operatives finally breached the apartment just after 8 a.m. and successfully apprehended Delgado-Samaniego.

Fortunately, law enforcement officials have confirmed that the child involved emerged from the ordeal unscathed.
