Accident – Death – Obituary News : A young man facing charges for a fatal crash that occurred in Milwaukee recently appeared in court on Sunday, July 7th. The accused, 23-year-old Marco Gomez, who worked as a valet driver, is charged with first-degree reckless homicide, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, knowingly operating without a valid license, and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

The tragic incident took place at the intersection of 11th and Wisconsin on Wednesday, July 3rd. Marquette police responded to a call around 11:45 p.m. and found a white Toyota, which had rolled onto its side, and a blue Hyundai, both of which had sustained significant damage. Gomez, who was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, was extracted from the wreck. Tragically, the driver of the Hyundai was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a criminal complaint.
Prosecutors allege that Gomez, while on duty as a valet at a Milwaukee hotel, took a guest’s car without permission before driving it recklessly. Sara Hill, the prosecuting attorney, stated, “He apparently takes a car that was rented by someone that was staying at the hotel. He takes that car without that person’s consent and then proceeds to drive that vehicle in an incredibly reckless fashion.” Gomez admitted to police that he had been drinking before the crash and was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Additionally, it was revealed that Gomez did not possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
During the court appearance, Gomez’s attorney argued that his client had no prior criminal record and requested a lower bail amount. Despite this, the court commissioner, Barry Phillips, set Gomez’s bail at $100,000.
