Jamison Beck : “Tragic Accident: 4-Year-Old Hit by Car in Florence”

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 4-year-old boy named Jamison Beck tragically lost his life after being struck by a car in Florence. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on the Weaver Road overpass along I-75. The Boone County Sheriff’s office received a call about a crash at around 12:59 a.m.

According to authorities, the young child had wandered onto the roadway from the right shoulder when a driver travelling west collided with him. Despite being rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Jamison Beck succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Monday. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident escaped unharmed.

The female driver involved in the incident had noticed another vehicle stopping in the eastbound lane and flashing their headlights. This prompted her to slow down to approximately 30 mph, well below the 55 mph speed limit. The vehicle that had initially stopped had spotted the child standing unsupervised at the edge of the roadway on the overpass. They turned back and stopped in traffic to try and reach out to the child, but tragically, the collision occurred.

As per the investigation, the driver did not see the child entering the roadway due to the dark conditions and lack of lighting. Despite the unfortunate outcome, she remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. It was revealed that the 4-year-old, who was autistic and nonverbal, had left his home in a nearby apartment complex on Mission Lane while his family was asleep.

The authorities have ruled out speed, alcohol, or drug impairment as contributing factors to the accident. Both the driver and the child’s family are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No charges have been pressed at this point, and the Florence police are spearheading the probe into this tragic incident.
