Efigenio Tacuba : Police Seek Public Help: New Details Emerge

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in the ongoing investigation of a violent altercation that resulted in a stabbing near the iconic Santa Monica Pier.

The incident, which took place on June 29 at approximately 2:21 p.m. north of the pier near Tower 14, has left the community in shock and disbelief.

According to police reports, the altercation began when a vendor named Efigenio Tacuba allegedly sexually assaulted multiple women at the beach. When confronted by members of a group, Tacuba called for reinforcements from fellow vendors, leading to a chaotic brawl involving weapons such as umbrella poles, belts, and a knife.

As a result of the altercation, one individual sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound, while another suffered a possible broken ankle. Both victims were promptly taken to local hospitals for treatment and are currently in recovery.

Four individuals, including Tacuba, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Jorge Luis Cruz Murcia, Samuel Manzanarez Hernandez, and Oscar Samuel Hernandez are facing charges of felony assault, while Tacuba is also charged with multiple counts of sexual battery.

Authorities have indicated that additional arrests are likely as the investigation progresses. They are urging anyone with information, particularly those in possession of cell phone video footage of the incident, to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
