Delawnte Hardy : “Murder Suspect Linked to Cleveland Officer and Grandma’s Death”

A man accused of fatally shooting Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter is also a suspect in the murder of his grandmother, according to authorities in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Delawnte Hardy, aged 24, has been charged with aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of Officer Ritter on July 4.

Reports from Cleveland police indicate that officers were serving a felonious assault warrant on Hardy in the 1500 block of E. 80th St. at around 1 a.m.

Upon their arrival, Hardy was observed leaving the residence on a bicycle. Chief Dorothy Todd of the Cleveland Police stated that as they attempted to apprehend him, Hardy opened fire, fatally striking Officer Ritter.

Information obtained by 19 News reveals that the felonious assault warrant against Hardy stemmed from an alleged shooting incident involving his grandmother at her Garfield Heights residence on June 29.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has confirmed that the grandmother, identified as Beatrice Porter, aged 63, succumbed to her injuries on July 4.

Garfield Heights Police Chief Mark Kaye has stated that no charges have been formally brought at present, but they are expected in the near future.
