The case of 9-year-old Charlotte Sena, who was abducted and later found safe last October, has resurfaced in a disturbing hoax on Facebook. Her photo is being used in posts across various groups, from Northampton to Melbourne, Australia, with a fictional missing person narrative.

One post in the Northampton sale group, created on July 4, has garnered 28,000 shares. Another was shared in the Accommodation in Melbourne group on Monday. A third post in the Van Buren County, MI Buy Sell and Trade group has been shared 13,000 times since July 3.

All of these posts contain the same text, claiming that 13-year-old Charlotte Sena has been missing for 48 hours after leaving her friend’s home. They urge the community to help organize a search for her and check their properties for any signs of her.

Despite the accurate description of Sena provided in the posts, detailing her height, weight, and clothing, the girl is not actually missing. She was found safe in Gansevoort, New York, after a thorough search last year.

This hoax involving Sena’s photo is not an isolated incident. Similar scams have been reported, including one where photos of a 2-year-old boy with fake injuries were used in a bait-and-switch scheme on Facebook. The Better Business Bureau warns against falling for such deceptive tactics.
