A devastating incident occurred late Saturday in Boone, North Carolina, resulting in the loss of a man’s life. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) reported that a man tragically lost his life after colliding with a deer while riding a four-wheeler in Watauga County.
The NCSHP responded to the fatal collision on Briarwood Lane near Big Hill Road at approximately 11 p.m. The incident involved a Suzuki four-wheeler that was travelling west on Briarwood Lane when it struck a deer in the roadway. The impact caused the driver to lose control, leading to the ATV overturning.
The driver of the ATV, identified as Carl Scott Norris, aged 38, was ejected from the vehicle and sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. It was noted by NCSHP that Norris was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Following the incident, Briarwood Lane Road was closed in the vicinity for around two hours to facilitate the on-scene investigation. Initial findings from the investigation suggest that neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.
