ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Tragedy struck in DeKalb County on Sunday evening as a person lost their life in a devastating house fire, officials have confirmed.

Capt. Jaeson Daniels, from DeKalb County Fire Rescue, reported that emergency crews rushed to the scene on the 3000 block of Hollywood Drive after receiving reports of a blaze at around 6:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with billowing smoke emerging from the property, indicating the severity of the situation.

After successfully extinguishing the flames, rescue teams made a grim discovery inside the house – a male victim who had succumbed to the fire’s effects.

Daniels revealed that the victim had experienced a “traumatic arrest” and was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where, tragically, he later passed away. The identity of the victim is yet to be released.
