Arjun Sharma : Youth Vandalizes Temple Due to Black Magic – India

A young man was taken into custody after vandalising a temple in Jammu and Kashmir due to his displeasure with the practice of black magic. The incident occurred on Sunday, and the suspect, identified as Arjun Sharma, was apprehended shortly after the act. Sharma admitted to a magistrate that certain individuals within the community were engaging in black magic rituals within the temple, prompting his destructive behaviour.

Notably, this incident marks the second attack on a religious site in Jammu within a week. Earlier, 43 individuals were detained by the authorities for assaulting a place of worship in the Reasi district on June 30.

The temple targeted in the recent episode is situated in Narain Khoo and was subjected to desecration on Saturday night. Reports indicated that idols were defiled, and various items, including carpets, were set ablaze. Law enforcement officials, along with forensic experts, crime branch personnel, and police canines, swiftly responded to the scene. Following a preliminary inquiry, Arjun Sharma was taken into custody.

According to the police, the prompt apprehension of the perpetrator helped avert a potentially volatile situation. Superintendent Brijesh Sharma commended the community for maintaining composure and allowing the investigative process to unfold smoothly. It was revealed that the accused harboured animosity towards both the individuals practising black magic in the temple and the village headman.
