Authorities in Kochi reported a heartbreaking incident at the Edappally railway station where a 17-year-old boy lost his life due to electrocution. The victim, identified as Antony Jose from Edappally, met with a tragic end after climbing atop a goods train that was halted at the station.
Details of the Incident
According to the police, Antony Jose came into contact with live power lines that were running above the railway track, resulting in the fatal electrocution. The incident took place in the evening when a group of local boys, including Antony, were crossing the railway tracks at the station. While others managed to safely pass beneath the train and cross the track, Antony decided to climb on top of the goods train coach using one of its ladders.
Tragically, as Antony reached the top of the train, he was electrocuted and suffered severe burn injuries, amounting to 85 per cent of his body. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.
Unfortunate Outcome
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Antony Jose succumbed to his injuries at around 7.30 pm, leaving his family and the local community in shock and grief. The authorities have expressed deep regret over the incident and are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
