Three individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating collision between a truck and a van on Highway 4 near Cochin, Sask. on Friday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 12:45 p.m., prompted a swift response from Battlefords RCMP, fire crews, EMS, and STARS.
Victims Identified
The driver of the van, along with two passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The deceased individuals have been identified as a 48-year-old woman, a five-year-old boy, and a six-year-old boy, all hailing from Flying Dust First Nation. Their next of kin have been informed of the tragic event.
Furthermore, a female passenger who was also in the van sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The male driver of the truck involved in the collision was airlifted by STARS to a medical facility with severe injuries.
Investigation Underway
While the highway was temporarily closed following the incident, it has since been reopened to traffic. Battlefords RCMP, in collaboration with a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
