ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A suspect on Clayton County’s most wanted list has been apprehended following a dramatic high-speed pursuit that unfolded over the weekend. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies observed a Hyundai Kona driving recklessly at a dangerously high speed along I-75 near the county line.

Upon attempting to initiate a routine traffic stop, the driver of the Hyundai Kona evaded law enforcement and led deputies on a high-speed chase from I-75 to I-20. The pursuit came to a dramatic conclusion when the suspect, identified as Dareies Antwan Roberts, exited onto Flat Shoals Road and collided with a guard rail.

In a desperate attempt to evade capture, Roberts tried to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended by deputies who utilised a taser to subdue him before placing him in the back of a patrol car. However, Roberts’s escape attempts did not end there, as he managed to kick out the back window of the patrol car.

Roberts has since been incarcerated at Clayton County Jail. He was listed as the seventh most wanted individual on Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen’s “Most Wanted HOT” list, with outstanding warrants for Violation of Probation, Interference with Government Property, Fleeing, Stalking, Aggravated Assault, Home Invasion, Burglary, Reckless Driving, Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Marijuana.

Further investigations revealed that the crashed vehicle contained a substantial quantity of illegal substances and a firearm. Authorities discovered 100 Oxycodone pills, half a pound of marijuana, and a firearm within the Hyundai Kona.
