ATLANTA — A man who had been sought by the Georgia Department of Corrections has been apprehended in connection with a tragic fatal stabbing incident that took place on the Atlanta BeltLine on Friday night, as confirmed by authorities.
Police Response
The Atlanta Police Department was alerted to a report of a stabbing at 243 Montgomery Ferry Rd NE around 8 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered a male victim who had succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Tragically, Grady Memorial Hospital EMS pronounced the victim deceased at the location.
Suspect Apprehended
Following the discovery of the crime scene, homicide detectives alongside various specialized units embarked on a thorough search for the perpetrator. Subsequently, officers identified an individual who matched the suspect’s description and promptly took him into custody. The suspect was revealed to be William Coleman, aged 27, who was already a wanted fugitive by the Department of Corrections for a previous escape.

William Coleman was swiftly transported to the Atlanta Police Department Headquarters for further interrogation. Following a comprehensive investigation, Coleman was officially charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
