CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man, Trevon Robinson, has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm after allegedly carjacking an elderly woman at gunpoint in Beverly. Robinson, who is a convicted felon currently on parole for a gun offense, was arrested by the Chicago Police Vehicular Hijacking Task Force.
The incident took place on June 27 in the 9100 block of South Hoyne Avenue, where Robinson allegedly stole a Rolls-Royce from an 83-year-old woman. Fortunately, the woman was unharmed during the ordeal. Robinson was apprehended on Wednesday in the 4700 block of South Ashland Avenue.
Prior to this incident, Robinson was serving an 18-month sentence for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and was released on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Due to his criminal history and the nature of the offense, Robinson was denied pretrial release during a court hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Alderman Matt O’Shea (19th) expressed his gratitude to the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their efforts in apprehending Robinson. He stated, “I would like to thank the Chicago Police Department and Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in getting this habitual gun offender off the street.”

Robinson is currently being held at Cook County Jail, with his next hearing scheduled for July 9 at Branch 38. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to ensure justice is served.
