Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident has shaken the residents of Lohara village in Moga district, as a seven-year-old boy named Sukhman was allegedly murdered and dumped in a drain. The police discovered the victim’s body on July 3, but it was only identified on Thursday, leading to the commencement of the autopsy.

According to the Moga police, Sukhman was residing with his aunt and uncle in Bakhatgarh, Barnala district, following his mother’s remarriage. The child’s mother, Veerpal Kaur, from Lohara village, had entered into a second marriage arranged by the accused, also named Veerpal Kaur, from Bakhatgarh. The mother had promised to pay the accused Rs 50,000 for arranging the marriage, but had only paid Rs 10,000 so far. As a result, the accused retained custody of Sukhman. When Veerpal Kaur failed to fulfil the remaining payment of Rs 40,000, the accused and her husband allegedly committed the heinous crime and disposed of the boy’s body in a drain in Lohara village, where the child’s paternal relatives reside.

Sub-inspector Amarjit Singh, SHO of Nihal Singh Wala police station, stated, “An FIR has been registered under sections 103, 238, and 3(5) of BNS at Nihal Singh Wala police station against Veerpal Kaur and her husband Surjit Singh of Barnala.” The couple are currently on the run, and prior to their identification, the police had initiated inquest proceedings upon recovering the body. The victim’s mother, who is currently living in Longowal, Sangrur district, provided crucial information that aided in the case investigation.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and authorities are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation..
