Shawn Robinson : “Pittsburgh Student Athlete Oasis Event – Success Boost for Athletes”

PITTSBURGH — A groundbreaking event focused on building inclusive and successful teams is set to kick off in Pittsburgh this week. Known as OASIS, this unique symposium aims to bring together leaders and professionals from various industries to explore the intersection of education and sports, with a focus on fostering positive change.

Pittsburgh, often referred to as the City of Champions, boasts a diverse history in sports, technology, arts, and medicine, making it the ideal location for this collaborative initiative.

Organized by Orange Arrow, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young student-athletes beyond the playing field, OASIS stands for Orange Arrow Symposium in Sports.

Founder of Orange Arrow, Shawn Robinson, a former college athlete, emphasized the unifying power of sports in bringing people together. He believes that leveraging this shared passion can facilitate meaningful conversations and drive positive change.

Robinson envisions OASIS as a platform for attendees to exchange best practices, strategies, and innovative ideas to create a more inclusive and supportive society.

The three-day event will feature discussions and activities focusing on youth sports, team dynamics, cultivating a winning mindset, and mental health awareness.

With over 40 speakers scheduled to participate, including former Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert, Pitt Head Volleyball Coach Dan Fisher, and Carlow College President Dr. Kathy Humphries, OASIS promises to offer a wealth of insights and expertise.

Among the volunteers at OASIS are current Pitt football players Ryan Jacoby and Keye Thompson, who are eager to engage with industry leaders and experts.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Thompson expressed excitement about the networking opportunities and the chance to learn from seasoned professionals.

Both Jacoby and Thompson intend to apply the knowledge gained at OASIS to their mentoring roles, aiming to inspire and guide young athletes towards success.

Robinson emphasized the dual impact of Orange Arrow’s work, highlighting the importance of supporting both young individuals and adult professionals in the sports and education sectors.
