In a shocking turn of events, two women have been arrested in Montgomery following an incident where a 6-month-old baby boy was exposed to methamphetamine. The mother, Morgan Elain Vanbuskirk, 24, and another woman identified as Rebecca Sue Aikey, 48, have been charged with several felonies related to the incident.

According to state police reports, the baby was allegedly exposed to methamphetamine by the two women and was not provided with immediate medical attention after sustaining a broken leg. The baby has since recovered and is currently under the care of his father, with the county’s Children and Youth Services overseeing his well-being.

During the arraignment, it was revealed that both women are residents of 77 Thomas Ave. in Montgomery, although Vanbuskirk claimed to live at 3731 Lycoming Creek Road in Lycoming Township. Aikey stated that Vanbuskirk had been living with her for the past two months.

The investigation into the incident began when Vanbuskirk brought the infant to UPMC Williamsport, alleging that the baby had fallen from a stroller. Due to the severity of the baby’s condition, he was transferred to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for further treatment.

At Geisinger, medical professionals noted symptoms of methamphetamine intoxication in the baby, along with a broken leg. The women provided conflicting accounts of how the baby sustained his injuries, with Aikey admitting that he had fallen out of a stroller while under her care.

During a search of Aikey’s home, state troopers discovered methamphetamine in a dresser drawer among children’s socks. Both women have been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance, and other related offences. They are currently in custody at the Lycoming County Prison.
