NEW DELHI: Last week, the streets of the national capital witnessed a dramatic car chase that could have been straight out of a Hollywood movie. An alleged kidnapper fled in a stolen car with two children on board, leading to a high-speed pursuit involving over 20 police vehicles. After a tense three-hour chase, the children were rescued and reunited with their parents. However, the accused managed to evade capture and disappear into the night.
Following the incident, police teams worked tirelessly to track down the daring criminal. They meticulously reviewed CCTV footage along the route taken by the stolen vehicle, from its starting point on Vikas Marg in East Delhi to the location where it was finally intercepted.
Arrest of Suspect
After days of intensive surveillance and on-ground operations, the alleged kidnapper, identified as Prateek Srivastava, was apprehended on July 4, according to police sources.
The harrowing ordeal unfolded on June 28 when the accused noticed an unattended car with two children inside – a 3-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. Seizing the opportunity, the criminal got behind the wheel and sped off, falsely informing the girl that her father had requested her to move the vehicle.

When the girl protested, the perpetrator brandished a meat cleaver and threatened to harm her if she made any noise. The children, caught in a state of bewilderment and fear, found themselves in the midst of a real-life thriller. Upon their return, the parents were shocked to discover their car missing. The father then contacted the police after speaking with his daughter.
