ANAHEIM, Calif. – Police in Anaheim apprehended a man following a dramatic pursuit across the city in which gunfire was exchanged between the driver and officers, miraculously resulting in no injuries.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday, as reported by the Anaheim Police Department. An officer witnessed a hit-and-run collision and attempted to pull over the perpetrator, who instead fled, prompting a pursuit.

Authorities identified the driver as 31-year-old Milton Urquiza Cruz of San Pedro. Cruz allegedly collided with a police vehicle and brandished a firearm at the pursuing officers. The chase culminated in a McDonald’s parking lot on N. State College Boulevard, where shots were fired between Cruz and law enforcement before he fled once more.

Additional gunfire ensued near the junction of State College Boulevard and the 91 Freeway, but Cruz continued to evade capture. The pursuit eventually concluded on Virginia Street when an officer executed a PIT maneuver, causing Cruz’s vehicle to come to a halt. Visual evidence from the scene depicted Cruz’s car situated on the curb, riddled with bullet holes. An adjacent Anaheim Police cruiser also sustained multiple bullet impacts on the windshield.
