Tragic Incident on Lake Tarleton in Piermont, N.H.
A tragic incident unfolded on Lake Tarleton in Piermont, N.H., claiming the life of a 58-year-old man on Friday. According to authorities, the man, identified as Michael A. Johnson of Bedford, N.H., lost his life after the canoe he was in capsized.
Reports indicate that at approximately 9:28 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police received a distress call regarding a drowning at Lake Tarleton. Two men had been out fishing on the lake when their canoe overturned, causing both individuals to fall into the water.
As the men struggled to stay afloat and retrieve their fishing equipment, one of them noticed that the other had become unresponsive and was face down in the water. An urgent call for assistance was made, prompting nearby witnesses to respond swiftly by boat.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders to revive the victim, he tragically succumbed to the incident. It was revealed that neither of the men had been wearing life jackets at the time, although they had them on board the canoe.
