Three individuals tragically lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries in a devastating incident on the evening of the Fourth of July in New York City. The incident occurred when a Ford F-150 pickup truck careened into a group of people who were celebrating the holiday in Corlears Hook Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Details of the Incident

The Ford F-150 was reportedly travelling at a high speed down a street before ploughing through an intersection, disregarding a stop sign, and ultimately mounting the sidewalk and entering the park. The driver, identified as Daniel Hyden, 44, was swiftly taken into custody on charges of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed driving.

Victims Identified

Among the victims were Lucille Pinkney, 59, and her son Hernan Pinkney, 38. The identity of the third victim is yet to be confirmed. The Pinkney family members described the deceased as cherished members of their community, with Lucille and Hernan being particularly close.

Family members spoke fondly of Hernan, highlighting his competitive spirit and close bond with his brother. Haneefah Hasan, a niece of Lucille Pinkney, remembered Hernan as an outgoing individual with a great sense of humour.
