Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a triple-vehicle crash that took place in the early hours of Saturday in Maryland. The 24-year-old cornerback was one of three football players who perished in the collision in Prince George’s County, according to Maryland State Police.

Jackson, along with his high school teammates Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, were involved in the fatal accident. Hazel was behind the wheel of their Dodge Charger when it was struck by an Infiniti Q50 and subsequently hit a Chevrolet Impala at around 3 a.m.

The Charger veered off the road and collided with multiple tree stumps before coming to a stop. Tragically, Jackson and Hazel were pronounced dead at the scene, while Lytton, who was in the back seat, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center.

Investigators suspect that the driver of the Infiniti, identified as 23-year-old Cori Clingman, was speeding and made an unsafe lane change, leading to the fatal crash. The driver of the Impala escaped unharmed, while Clingman and her passengers were uninjured.

Lytton and Hazel continued their football careers at the collegiate level, with Lytton representing Florida State and Penn State, and Hazel playing for the University of Maryland and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The Minnesota Vikings expressed their sorrow over the loss of Jackson, who was a promising fourth-round draft pick and a potential starting cornerback for the team. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah shared his devastation at the untimely passing, highlighting Jackson’s resilience and determination to better himself for those who supported him.

Former coach Dan Lanning of the University of Oregon also paid tribute to Jackson, describing him as a “great player [and] better person” in a heartfelt message.
