The Cleveland Police department has announced the arrangements for the memorial service of Officer Jamieson Ritter, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The memorial service is scheduled to take place on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Cleveland.
Officer Ritter, aged 27, was fatally shot in the 1500 block of E. 80th Place in the city’s Hough neighborhood at around 1 a.m. on Thursday. The incident has deeply shaken the local community and law enforcement fraternity.
According to Chief Dorothy Todd, a team of officers had responded to the area to execute a warrant on a man wanted for felonious assault.

Upon their arrival, the suspect, later identified as Delawnte Hardy, was spotted leaving a residence on a bicycle. In an attempt to apprehend him, Chief Todd revealed that the suspect opened fire, fatally striking Officer Ritter.
Hardy was swiftly apprehended at the scene and subsequently taken to the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. He has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with the incident.
Cleveland Police have indicated that further details regarding the procession will be released at a later date.
In a poignant development, Officer Ritter’s funeral is set to take place outside of Ohio, underscoring the widespread impact of his untimely demise.
