Henry Williams Andray : “Ocean Springs Police Investigate 4th of July Shooting”

An Independence Day gathering in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, took a dark turn on Thursday night, as a shooting incident left seven people injured. The incident occurred on Cumberland Road, where 68-year-old Henry Williams Andray was arrested for allegedly firing into the Fourth of July celebration, facing four counts of aggravated assault, according to Sgt. Parker Bourque of the Ocean Springs Police Department.

Sgt. Bourque described the scene, stating, “Everybody was kind of in the backyard mingling amongst themselves. The victims are in stable condition, and the investigation is ongoing.”

According to police reports, the party was hosted by neighbors who were lighting fireworks when Andray began firing birdshot into the crowd, injuring four people who were subsequently taken to the hospital.

Sgt. Bourque detailed the injuries, mentioning, “Arms, legs, chest, and some are in the face as well.”

Ocean Springs Chief Ryan Lemaire stated that Andray refused to provide a statement to the police, leaving investigators puzzled about his motive.

Bourque added, “We still have a lot of victims and witnesses to speak to in order to get a clearer understanding of what happened.”

As the investigation progresses, Andray could face additional charges. He is currently held in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bond.
