CROWNSVILLE, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic motorcycle accident that claimed the life of one individual in Crownsville on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:48 a.m. when law enforcement officers received a call regarding a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of St. Stephens Church Road and Penderbrooke Drive.

Upon conducting a preliminary examination, authorities determined that a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle was travelling north on St. Stephens Church Road when it veered across the centre line of the road into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, the motorcycle collided with a 2014 Toyota Sequoia that was travelling south on the same road.

The driver of the Suzuki, identified as 59-year-old Gregory Hood from Shady Side, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, the driver of the Toyota emerged from the incident unscathed, as confirmed by officials.

The Traffic Safety Section has taken charge of the investigation into this tragic accident. More details will be released as the investigation progresses.
