In a separate and equally tragic incident, a 74-year-old man in Gandhinagar, Shivamogga district, lost his life to the Zika virus on Friday night. The elderly gentleman had been diagnosed with Zika on June 21 and had been experiencing severe fever symptoms since June 19.

After being discharged from the hospital on Thursday, the man was receiving care at home when his condition took a turn for the worse, leading to his untimely death. Karnataka Government Takes Measures to Combat Dengue Outbreak
In response to the alarming rise in dengue cases across the state, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has issued directives to Deputy Commissioners to step up surveillance efforts and containment measures. The government has also taken proactive steps to cap the prices of dengue testing at Rs 600, making it more accessible to the general public.
With a 42% increase in dengue cases compared to the previous year, Karnataka has recorded a total of 6,187 positive cases of dengue, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives from January to July 2. The government is working tirelessly to curb the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses and protect the health and well-being of its citizens.
