Bengaluru: An 11-year-old boy named Gagan, a resident of Anjanapura on the outskirts of Bengaluru, has tragically succumbed to dengue fever in the city. The young boy had been undergoing treatment for dengue at a private hospital for several days before he lost his battle with the deadly virus on a late Friday night.

As per a report by ANI, the Karnataka government has taken measures to address the rising cases of dengue, including capping the prices of dengue testing at Rs 600. The state has seen a 42% increase in dengue cases compared to the previous year, with a total of 6,187 positive cases and six fatalities reported from January to July 2.

In an exclusive interview with Times Now, Congress leader Nagaraj Yadav emphasised the importance of public cooperation with the government to combat the dengue outbreak. He criticised the BJP for politicising the situation and stressed the need for cleanliness and well-equipped hospitals to manage the crisis effectively.

Call for Action from BJP MP CN Manjunath

During a press conference, BJP MP CN Manjunath called for urgent action from the state government, urging the declaration of a medical emergency and the formation of a task force to seek expert advice on addressing the dengue crisis.

He highlighted the alarming increase in dengue cases, particularly among children, with over 7,000 active cases and a daily rise of 600 to 700 cases in the state. Manjunath underscored the severity of the situation, citing the unfortunate death of a doctor due to dengue complications.

According to Manjunath, once dengue complications set in, the likelihood of fatality is as high as 99%, as there is currently no specific treatment available. He stressed the importance of mosquito control to prevent the spread of the disease and mentioned that treatments mainly focus on managing fever and blood pressure.
