Five people, including the suspect, tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident at a birthday party in northern Kentucky. The incident took place in Florence, Kentucky, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Authorities received multiple reports of an active shooter at a residence in Florence at around 3 a.m. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found two victims outside the residence, with shots still being fired.
Tragically, four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injured individuals are currently in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery, according to the police.
Identification of Victims and Suspect
The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Delaney Eary, 20-year-old Shane Miller, 20-year-old Hayden Rybicki, and 44-year-old Melissa Parrett. The shooter has been named as 21-year-old Chase Garvey.

Missy Rittinger, the Boone County coroner, confirmed that two of the victims were female, while the other two were male. The tragic incident occurred during a birthday celebration for Parrett’s 21-year-old son.
Investigation and Response
Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the shooting. Police Chief Jeff Mallery stated that while the suspect was not invited to the party, there was a relationship between him and the attendees. Garvey reportedly arrived at the gathering uninvited.
Following the shooting, Garvey attempted to flee the scene in a car. Law enforcement officers pursued him, but the suspect ultimately shot himself while driving and crashed into a ditch. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Florence Police Department has revealed that the initial investigation suggests that the suspect acted alone in carrying out the shooting. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that its deputies assisted the Florence officers during the incident.

Florence is situated approximately 12 miles southwest of Cincinnati, Ohio. Chief Mallery expressed the emotional toll of the incident, highlighting that this was the first mass shooting to occur in Florence.
