A 44-year-old man, identified as Damon Paschall, was taken into custody for burglary after sustaining a gunshot wound during an altercation on the west side of Indianapolis late Friday night, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident took place in the 2000 block of Mansfield Street, situated in a neighbourhood off East Riverside Drive and West 21st Street near the South Grove Golf Course on the west side of the city. Officers were called to the scene around 11:50 p.m. on Friday following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement found Paschall with a gunshot wound and promptly transported him to a nearby hospital where he is currently in stable condition. Subsequently, a person of interest was apprehended in connection with the incident, although their identity has not been disclosed by the police.
Following further investigation, it was revealed that Paschall was not only shot but was also found to have an outstanding warrant. In a statement released by IMPD on Saturday morning, it was confirmed that Paschall had been arrested for burglary while armed with a deadly weapon. The authorities did not disclose the circumstances that led to Paschall being shot or whether any other individuals were involved or injured in the incident.

IMPD has stated that the final decision on charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
