On Friday evening, a 19-year-old individual named Christopher Acevdedo was arrested in connection with a tragic incident that occurred on July 1 in north Lubbock. The incident involved a shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old named Rudy Romo Ramirez. Acevdedo was taken into custody and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a charge of manslaughter, according to a statement released by the Lubbock police department.

The incident took place in the 2500 block of Cornell Street, where officers responded to a report of shots fired at around 12:44 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Romo-Ramirez with a gunshot wound, and unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. It was reported that Romo-Ramirez was part of a large group of individuals when the shooting occurred, and the individuals present fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.

Following an extensive investigation conducted by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit and the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center, authorities were able to gather enough evidence to obtain a warrant for Acevdedo’s arrest. He was apprehended without incident around 6:58 p.m. on Friday in the 800 block of Main Street and is currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond.
