An unfortunate accident on Highway #4 near Cochin, just north of North Battleford, has left a community in mourning. The collision between a truck and a van occurred on July 5th at approximately 12:45 p.m., resulting in the tragic deaths of an adult female and two young boys.

The victims, identified as a 48-year-old woman, a 5-year-old boy, and a 6-year-old boy, were all members of the Flying Dust First Nation. Their next of kin have been notified, and the community is coming together to support the grieving family.

Emergency services, including local fire departments, EMS, and STARS air ambulance, responded swiftly to the scene. Sadly, despite their best efforts, the three individuals were pronounced dead on site. An adult female passenger in the van sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The adult male driver of the truck, who was the sole occupant, also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital by STARS. The Battlefords RCMP, in collaboration with a Saskatchewan collision reconstructionist, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Authorities have expressed their gratitude to all those who assisted at the scene and have asked for privacy and respect for the families involved during this challenging time.
