Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic ATV accident took place on Cincinnati Road, just half a mile south of Ariel Lane, approximately nine miles southeast of Monroe City on the evening of July 3, 2024, at around 7:20 p.m.
The victim of the accident was identified as William C. Sweet, a 48-year-old resident of Monroe City, Missouri. Sweet was operating a 1999 Honda ATV in a northbound direction when he veered off the left side of the road and collided with a tree. Shockingly, Sweet was not wearing any safety gear or equipment at the time of the incident.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sweet suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe City EMS Medic Joiner at 8:02 p.m. His body was later transported to Beinhoff Funeral Home in Perry, Missouri.
The emergency response to the accident involved Trooper Geren, Corporal Tappendorf, Trooper Johnson, the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe City Ambulance, and the Center Fire Department. The ATV sustained moderate damage in the collision and was subsequently towed by Robert’s Garage for further investigation.
