Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton has reported that a tragic incident occurred in Altoona on Thursday, July 4, resulting in the death of a local resident. The incident took place around 1 a.m. in the 2000 block of Self Street, where Etowah County deputies responded to a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a 35-year-old man identified as Tyler Golden, who was a resident of the Self Street address. The authorities have detained a male and a female at the residence, both of whom have been taken to the Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division as persons of interest in the case.

The investigation into this tragic event is currently ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed. Sheriff Horton expressed his gratitude to Attalla Police, Altoona Fire, AMed Ambulance Service, and Jacksonville State Center for Applied Forensics for their assistance in handling the situation.
