Accident – Death – Obituary News : Three men, including two former BJP functionaries, were arrested by Race Course police in Coimbatore on Thursday night for the alleged kidnapping of a man in connection with a property dispute. The arrested individuals have been identified as P Hari Prasath, N Praveen Kumar, and G Babu.
Hari Prasath and Babu, both former BJP members, along with Praveen Kumar, who is associated with Hanuman Sena, were taken into custody. Two other suspects, Senthil and Johnson, are currently on the run.
The incident revolves around K Dharanidharan, a resident of Achiyur near Dharapuram, who owned 35 cents of land valued at Rs 2.50 crore on the Dharapuram – Palani Road. Dharanidharan approached his friend Hari Prasath to pledge the property for a bank loan. However, Hari Prasath convinced Dharanidharan to transfer the property into his name under the pretext of securing a substantial loan.
After transferring the property, Hari Prasath attempted to seize control of it, prompting Dharanidharan to seek refuge in Coimbatore. Hari Prasath, along with his accomplices, orchestrated a plan to kidnap Dharanidharan and obtain the original property documents.
The abduction took place when Dharanidharan was lured to VOC Park in Coimbatore under false pretenses. He was intercepted by the gang members who posed as plainclothes policemen and forcibly took him captive. The group confiscated valuable items from Dharanidharan, including cash, documents, and his car, before releasing him with threats.
Fearing for his safety, Dharanidharan sought assistance from the authorities in Bengaluru, where he had fled. Following a petition to the chief minister’s office, the case was referred to Race Course police. With the help of a legal representative, Dharanidharan formally lodged a complaint against the gang members, leading to the arrest of the trio.
The arrested individuals, P Hari Prasath, N Praveen Kumar, and G Babu, have been remanded in judicial custody pending further investigation. The search for the remaining suspects, Senthil and Johnson, is ongoing as the authorities work to bring them to justice..
