Accident – Death – Obituary News : Emergency responders have tragically recovered the bodies of a 14-year-old boy from Tulsa and a heroic man who attempted to save him from drowning in Keystone Lake on Thursday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s law enforcement division swiftly responded to the scene near the Appalachia Bay area of Keystone Lake, situated to the west of Tulsa, around noon on Thursday.
According to an OHP report, the young boy encountered difficulties while swimming, prompting a 39-year-old man from Tulsa, identified as Nathaniel A. Richardson, to courageously intervene. Unfortunately, Richardson went underwater during his rescue attempt and tragically did not resurface, as detailed in the report.
A dedicated dive team successfully recovered their bodies from approximately 12 feet of water. It was noted in the report that neither the boy nor Richardson were utilising a personal flotation device at the time of the incident.
In another distressing incident on the same day, the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department reported a drowning following a rescue effort after a child fell from a towed water device. Authorities were still engaged in a search operation in the Patricia Island area of Grand Lake for the unidentified man as of 4 p.m.
