Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of two men in Orange County on Independence Day, law enforcement officials confirmed.

Leandro Correa, aged 48, has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently detained without bail at the Orange County jail.

Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation progresses, detectives stated.

The initial shooting occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. on Sailfish Street in the 5200 block. Deputies responded to reports of a man, later identified as 45-year-old Jose Carrasquillo, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, Carrasquillo succumbed to his injuries at a nearby medical facility.

The second shooting took place at 2:20 p.m. on Appaloosa Road in the 2700 block. Another male victim, identified as 27-year-old Eduardo Soto, was found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) has linked both incidents, indicating a potential connection between the two.

Detectives are working diligently to uncover further details surrounding the tragic events.
