High Point police have launched an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred during a July Fourth celebration. According to reports, two individuals were shot at a fireworks display on July 5, 2024, at approximately 12:02 a.m.

Authorities were alerted to the incident at 2751 East Lexington Ave. following reports of gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a large crowd gathered in the parking lot for an unofficial fireworks show. Two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds, prompting the officers to provide immediate medical assistance.

Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Keith Lynch, aged 32, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital. The second victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was also hospitalised for treatment. As of now, the police have not released any information regarding potential suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

During their investigation, law enforcement officers recovered multiple shell casings from the road, which will be subjected to further analysis in an effort to piece together the events that transpired during the fireworks display.
